Bontle Jade-Lee Modiselle was born on October 7, 1990, in Soweto, Johannesburg. She was mainly raised in northeastern Johannesburg. She is the daughter of Percy and Grace Modiselle. She hails from the Tswana ethnic group. Bontle Modiselle has two sisters, Refilwe Modiselle, a model, and Candice Modiselle, known for her work in television. Sadly, their father, who was a model, passed away due to suicide.

Bontle Modiselle started her dancing career in 2007, immersing herself in dance classes led by seasoned choreographers. Initially, she appeared as a music video model and sporadic dancer for prominent artists such as DJ Tira, Rouge, and Major League DJz.
Her breakthrough into the entertainment industry occurred with the dance-drama film “Hear Me Move” in 2014, where she portrayed the character “Khanyi“. This concretes her path into acting.
